Not the Heat of Sin, But the Hell of Humanity
This project suggests that categories of sin such as pride, lust or greed produce economic systems driven by profit motives that distract the human gaze away from the divine purpose, thus blinding us to the divine will for human relationships. Rather than using sin or original sins as categories of discussion, I will show that prioritizing narratives of God and Scripture as liberating and self-sacrificing of privilege are better categories for making sense of and giving new meaning to injustices and evil that are evident in racism and slavery.
